I have painted this jug before. It's a ceramic piece I paid $225 for. When I first painted it as part of a still life, I knew I wanted to paint it again by itself. Of course, no two paintings come out the same way. The jug in the first painting came out more controlled. This second one has the air of confusion about it. Perhaps it was the fact that my white paint had gotten to the point of gumminess where no amount of water or glaze will get it running again. Maybe it's personal inner turmoil.
This jug seems more human, somewhat scared, as if it's trying to shrink into the background. The shadow in the back came out slightly darker than the original.
I love all the meanings that can be put into this painting. Blue is the colour of depression. The jug is actually a torso, giving a double meaning to its objectness. Technically as a real jug, it is useless due to the glaze used.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
