I think either I have to come up with better titles or stop dwelling on the same subject matter 8x10" acrylic painting of a red parrot. The feathers are a little symbolic, but I wanted the painting to be more about colour instead. Although I scanned it, I'm not happy with the colour of the image - it doesn't represent the darks in the painting well. I guess I'll keep trying. For example, the blue feathers are really dark and blue, not as light as in the photo.
The colors in his feathers are great !!!
Really nice painting
Ifyou have photoshop you can try to get the image look the sameas the original with image-> brightness and then play around with the two options. This really helps

"Another fantastic person is the famous GearOtter. Check her out on deviantart.com, her art sucks dirt, but she has a posse almost as great as my own, a bunch of friends who suck up to her and get her page views. Go geary."
Oh yes, is it ever bright :-D I actually painted it in the evenings (it gets dark here in winter of course) and when I saw what I had painted in the daylight, I had a real surprise. Thanks for the compliment!
Thanks It is purty. Someone told me that photographing art was an art in itself :-D
Thanks for the suggestion - I do have PhotoShop. When I adjusted the brightness, the background was too light - the original scan was pretty mediocre - I couldn't get a balance of all the areas without one area looking good and the other off. I took some digicam photos of it today and had better luck ([link]). But again - some glare, some blurriness. I guess I'll keep on fiddling with it!
Yes photographing art is very difficult. Scanning is better.
With photoshopyou shouldnt only adjust brightness, but together with contrast.
but this photo isn't very bad at all It will just help a little, not that its necessary
I always adjust the brightness and contrast with my drawings/paintings, also the scanned ones.
